A man in his 20s has been arrested in Limerick as part of an organised crime group operation.

Gardaí detained the man on Wednesday morning. He is suspected of involvement in business and residential burglaries as well as the theft of high-value vehicles.

"The arrest was made following an intelligence led operation involving garda members from the Clare/ Tipperary Division and the Southern Region Support Units," said a garda spokesperson,

The man is currently being held under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 at a garda station in the Southern Region.

This arrest follows the detention of another man in his 30s on April 9 in connection with investigations targeting an organised crime group (OCG).

He has since been charged with a number of burglaries and other offences, becoming the second person to appear before the courts in relation to this probe.

"This investigation remains ongoing," added the spokesperson.
