IF ever proof was needed that Kerry and Cork people are as thick as thieves, it was provided in Listowel on Saturday night.
Billy Morgan came to town and I had the privilege of launching his wonderful autobiography ‘Rebel Rebel’.
But would any Kerry people turn up to pay tribute and honour an out and out Cork man who had broken Kerry hearts more often than any Cork man in the history of the game?
Well the Listowel Arms was packed to the rafters as friend and foe came and mingled as only GAA people can.
Great Kerry players from the past seven decades showed up for the book launch of the book.
Many of those present would have clashed with Billy during their careers but were there front and centre for the launch in Listowel.
It was great to see guys, who argued and fought over football, now become the best of friends – the way it was meant to be, the way it should be.
Maybe this example may inspire others who have fallen out over football or hurling or whatever to do likewise.
