Health Minister Mary Harney is urging everyone to avail of the swine flu vaccine.

Harney hopes all will take vaccine

Health Minister Mary Harney is urging everyone to avail of the swine flu vaccine.

The national vaccination programme got underway on Monday, with groups most at risk including pregnant women and people with long term medical problems receiving priority.

The H1N1 vaccine is being provided by most GPs across the country and at 32 HSE clinics.

Mary Harney says its important people take the vaccine to prevent the spread of swine flu.

"We know that the vaccine works, we know that every medical organisation in the country and all the training bodies… have all recommended that people get the vaccine" she said.

"That's the case around the world. Reputable organisations recommend that people take the vaccine and I hope that everyone in Ireland will take the vaccine" she added.
