Iraqi museum to feature Saddam 'torture chambers'
04/09/2008 - 14:22:30

The Iraqi government is planning to open a museum inside the notorious Abu Ghraib prison to document crimes committed there during Saddam Hussein’s regime.

Iraqi government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said in a statement today that the museum’s exhibits will include torture chambers and execution materials.

He says the museum is part of an effort to rehabilitate the prison, located west of Baghdad.

The prison was known for being a torture site during Saddam’s regime.

Allegations of abuse at the prison also erupted in 2004 with the release of photographs showing US guards abusing and humiliating detainees.
