Suspension blow for Hughes
04/09/2008 - 17:39:23

Richard Hughes will miss the final two days of the Ladbrokes St Leger Festival, which includes the season’s final Classic, after receiving a 14-day suspension.

The jockey was found guilty of careless riding aboard Old Romney at Lingfield on August 28.

As he has now been suspended for 24 days for interference since September 19, 2007, Hughes incurs a three-day ban for the Lingfield incident and a further 12 days under the ’totting-up’ procedure.

He will first serve an 11-day ban (Sept 12-22), while the other three days have been deferred for three months until December 12.
