Mikey favourite to win BB tonight 05/09/2008 - 15:21:12
The winner of the ninth series of 'Big Brother' will be crowned tonight.
Rachel, Sara, Rex, Darnell and Mikey have survived 93 days in the house, but tonight one will walk away with the £100,000 (€124,136) prize.
Bookies' favourite Mikey Hughes, 33, is a radio producer from Ayrshire, Scotland. At 23, Mikey lost his sight while undergoing an operation and is now a radio producer for the blind station Radio Insight.
The outsider is albino Darnell Swallow, 26, a songwriter from London. He was deported to the UK after getting involved with gang culture in the United States.
He was born in Ipswich and raised in St Louis in the US and focuses much of his time mentoring community groups.
Australian Sara Folino, 27, was a late comer to the Big Brother house. She had a rural upbringing in Melbourne but moved to London five years ago. She now works as a personal assistant.
The housemates had a special supper last night to mark the end of their time in the house.
"What have you enjoyed the most about your Big Brother experience?" Sara asked Darnell.
Darnell replied: "Just meeting all these beautiful people. I came in here feeling lonely, with nothing, and I'm leaving with a whole lot of things, dude.
"I definitely feel like I'm where I belong now, know what I'm saying?"
Also in the running is chef Rex Newmark, 24, from London. Before he entered the house he said his three loves in life were food, money and success.
He still lives at home, where his meals are cooked by the family housekeeper.
Rachel Rice, 24, a trainee teacher from Torfaen, Wales, will also face the public vote. She is a former child actor who featured alongside Hugh Grant in the film 'Night Train to Venice' at the age of eight.
She performed in three other films and more than 20 adverts but stopped acting when she had to choose between films and education.
Last night Rex said: "I feel like certain people in the house I've got to know actually better than any of my friends on the outside. I think that's the most amazing experience.
"I'm surprised at myself because when I came here I wanted to make peace with myself. I've spent many many years trying to escape myself. I became friends with myself in the house."
'Big Brother' marked its last supper by playing music into the house, including 'My Way' by Frank Sinatra and 'I Will Always Love You' by Whitney Houston.
Darnell, Mikey and Rachel huddled into the diary room to thank Big Brother for the party.
"Whitney Houston, man. That was it, right there. That was the tune to put on at that moment, that did it right there," Darnell said.
"Thank you for the 92 days of good times," he added.
