Report: Dell to sell off factories in cost-cutting measures
05/09/2008 - 08:25:32

It has been reported that international computer giant Dell is planning to sell some of its factories in an effort to cut costs.

The Wall Street Journal has reported that the firm is expected to sell most of its branches worldwide within the next 18 months, possibly to buyers in Asia.

The move follows similar cut backs in recent months by the group’s main rivals - HP and IBM.

The company owns factories in Ireland as well as India, China, Brazil, Poland and several across the US.

Dell in Ireland has declined to comment on the Wall Street Journal report and whether or not plants in Limerick and Dublin would be affected.
