ECB expected to leave interest rates on hold
04/09/2008 - 08:39:07

The European Central Bank is expected to leave its interest rate steady at 4.25% today.

Attention in Frankfurt will focus on a press conference by ECB president Jean-Claude Trichet taking place this afternoon where he will discuss the Governing Council's monetary policy decisions and answer journalists' questions.

The ECB will also release its staff's 2008-2009 forecasts for growth and inflation in the euro zone, with economists expecting the bank to lower its growth forecast.
